Ken's 2009 Iditarod Journal Now Available!!

News Flash!!!

In an effort to increase website traffic and visibility for my loyal kennel sponsors I am now offering my 2009 journal for free on my website.  I have loaded each page as a blog entry on "2009 Journal".  One of my sponsors, Northern Outfitters, is allowing me to sell their product from this site.  If you're looking to stay warm out in the cold you can't beat Northern Outfitters; their products have worked for me for years on the Iditarod and Yukon Quest trail.  If you purchase their products from my site by clicking on their icon on the right side of the page, they've agreed to donate a portion of the proceeds to Windy Creek Kennel.  Their prices are the same whether you buy off my site or theirs.  Your patronage of Northern Outfitters, as well as our other kennel sponsors would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks and enjoy the journal,

Ken

Welcome to Windy Creek Kennel!

Home of sled dog mushers Ken Anderson and Gwen Holdmann

We are based out of Fox, Alaska and compete in races all over North America. We are the first husband and wife team to complete both the Iditarod and Yukon Quest, and have also competed competitively in stage and sprint races across North American as well as in Europe. We have approximately 65 dogs of all ages in our kennel, including about 10 retirees. We lived in a small 14ft by 16ft cabin we built ourselves with no running water or electricity for several years but just finished our log place recently and are enjoying the luxury of RUNNING WATER for the first time since we moved to Alaska over 15 years ago. It comes in handy especially with our first children, twins Leif and Marais.  Our lives revolve around the dogs and now our kids, but Gwen is also involved in renewable energy projects throughout Alaska and is currently the Executive Director of the Alaska Center for Energy and Power.

We will update this website regularly via our 'kennel updates' link as well as the 'What's New!!' link. We plan on constantly adding new information, including regular diary entries on our training and races - so check back often and use our RSS feed to get a notice automatically when we update the site!
